My first day of class

Today I had my first day of classes at FIT. I had a drawing class called Fashion Applications which is a basic drawing class. My other two classes are Basic Photography and History of Modern Art. It was a great day and I am tired but here is what I did in my drawing class….

FIT Orientation Week 00

Okay, so this week was my orientation week at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology). Going back to school was the whole point of starting this blog. I’m going to do my best to track my progress and have a good way of looking back at where my work was “once upon a time”. I’ve been…

Dinosaurs!

Two posts in one day! I visited the New York Museum of Natural History yesterday. It is probably my favorite place to go and draw. There is SO MUCH great stuff there. The crowds are a little unruly but it teaches you patience as you wait for people to move out of the way. It…

Heads and face practice

In my eternal quest to draw heads and faces better, I worked through a few pages. I tried to get some expressions out as drawing generic faces does become repetitive. I started warming up by practicing the male head in various positions on the first page. That lead to the top of the second page…

Of Parks and Poses

Yesterday and today were about poses. I spent a little time in Bryant Park yesterday just people watching and sketching. I’ve come a long way with this type of sketching and have a long way to go still. I’m finally putting people and environments together in drawings. I need to do more of this. I…

True Detective

I’ve been watching the new True Detective. If you haven’t seen any of it, it is a pretty great show on HBO. The first season was the best thing on TV last year. It also has the added bonus of being an eight episode season. Short and sweet. This season is running a fine line between…

Dinosaurs!!!

I was in Boston visiting my best friend (and his lovely wife who is currently the only subscriber to this blog…thank you Audrey!) last weekend and we went to Harvard’s Museum of Natural History. Among the many cool thing they have are dinosaurs. They had some pretty good dinosaur toys and I picked up a…

NYC Store Front

While I was roaming The Met’s bookstore I found this book. It is a book of photographs of various types of stores that, once upon a time, made up almost all of NYC’s facades. I thought this would be a great reference book. I can draw various store fronts as practice as well as learn…

Metropolitan Museum of Art

On August 6th I took a trip up to the Met Museum. I spent a very pleasant day wandering around with no particular aim other than to do some drawing and see some art. There are always a few great exhibits and the permanent collection is endless. At the beginning of my visit I found an…

Camero Drawing 7/28/15

I started off today with some photo pose reference via Pinterest. I’ve found that athletes are the best pics to draw from, especially martial arts pictures. You get good movement and poses. You can see that I’m in the process of learning anatomy. There is some accurate and some inaccurate stuff here. The top drawing’s…
